What does a tutor do?
A Tutor is responsible for helping students learn and understand new concepts and complete assignments. They prepare lessons by studying lesson plans, reviewing textbooks in detail to understand the topic they will be teaching and providing additional projects if needed during a session.

Should tutors give homework?
In many cases tuition is not purely supplementary to schoolwork, and if a tutor is teaching something for the first time or reteaching something originally covered a while ago, it’s perfectly reasonable to set homework to ensure that the student has understood.
Can you switch majors at WPI?
Changing Majors and Changing Advisors WPI students are admitted to the University, not to a specific program, changing majors is a simple process. Each year, during B Term, we ask all first year students to discuss their major with their advisor and then declare their major through SharePoint.
How do I stop tutoring someone?
After you’ve tried to work with the parents to help their child and it’s not working, politely inform them that your work/school schedule has changed and you need to scale back on tutoring for the near future. There is no need to say anything else, you’ve already said it in Phase 1. You tried your best.
Does WPI accept CLEP?
Also, WPI does not accept non-credit CEU courses, adult enrichment or refresher courses, or CLEP examinations.
Does WPI accept ECE credits?
These high school to college partnership programs include Running Start, ECE, EEP, SUPA, SUNY UHS, and others. Additional courses that are not transferable include pre-calculus, non-calculus based physics, computer courses in BASIC.
What qualifications do I need to tutor?
You do not need a teaching qualification, to have completed a particular course, or to have particular work experience. Tutors are a varied bunch but they should all have the requisite subject knowledge, a passion for learning and a friendly, professional manner.

WPI awards credit for AP scores of 4 or 5 only. In order to receive AP credit, students must contact the College Board and request that their official test scores be sent to the Registrar’s Office electronically.
