Is the Lost Coast trail worth it?

It’s widely considered one of the most picturesque places in the United States and is well worth the trip to get there. Black Sands Beach and the Mattole campground are the most famous part of the trail, but there are other sections, as well.

How long does the Lost Coast trail take?

You can do the entire trip in five or six days. For a shorter trip, Big Flat is a popular destination and is one of the more memorable sites along the Lost Coast Trail. You could do a four day round-trip from Mattole to Big Flat, or overnight from Shelter Cove.

    This section of the trail is entirely along sandy beach or slippery boulders,so anticipate a slower pace.
