What is exit device?
An exit device – sometimes called a Panic Device or a Crash Bar – is mechanical door hardware operated from the inside of an outswing exit door through the use of a crossbar or push rail and extends at least halfway across its width.
What is a request to exit panic device?
Product Overview. RX (request to exit) Signal Switch feature is used to signal the use of an opening from the push side. When the push pad is depressed, the switch is activated. These devices are equipped with an internal SPDT (single pole double throw) switch that monitors the touch bar.

The most common way to “dog down” or place the exit device in the unlocked mode is by pushing the bar, inserting and turning a “dogging key” into a hole on the interior bar of the exit device. The dogging key is commonly a hexagonal or “hex” key like the picture.

How do you make a fire door self closing?
Most modern self-closing hinges have an adjustable mechanism inside that you simply turn to increase the tension and closing power. If you push down on the mechanism, it releases all tension. Use the appropriate sized allen wrench and turn the mechanism to increase the tension, which will close the door.
