Can you just change the head on a TRV?
If you are swapping an old thermostatic valve for a new TRV, take the thermostatic head off both valves. You should be able to turn this to remove it by hand.
How do you fit a Myson TRV head?
Fit the LST casing on to its mounting brackets and fit the TRV head to the outside of the LST casing, on to the outer locking ring. Set the TRV head to the fully open position (black dot in line with the indicator) and ensure that it engages correctly with the hexagonal section of the adaptor.
Do TRV heads fail?
The thermostatic action of TRVs can also fail, so they don’t close down the flow through the radiator when the room gets too warm. If the temperature calibration has slipped out of range, or the thermostatic action has failed completely, the valve will need to be changed.
What does TRV 2-way mean?
The MYSON TRV 2-way is the most complete thermostatic radiator valve range available for today’s central heating systems. Incorporating our unique ‘2-way’ engineering, including our patented ‘bonding’ technique, the MYSON TRV 2-way simplifies installation and removes the worry of costly callbacks.
Are all TRV valves the same size?
Meaning the width of the connections, measured in millimetres. 15mm valves are the only size you’re likely to encounter, since 15mm copper pipes are the most common. There are also other sizes, from 8mm to 28mm, and there are accompanying adapters.
Do thermostatic radiator valves wear out?
You should replace your thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), or at least upgrade the TRV heads, if they are 10 or more years old. TRVs can decline in terms of performance and accuracy over time.
Are thermostatic radiator valves a standard size?
The connection between your valve and the radiator is standard across all moderns radiators and valves. The size differences listed above refers to the width of your pipes that the valves will slot onto. Most of the time it’s 15mm, but measuring your pipes will confirm.
Should all radiator valves be fully open?
Most lockshield valves have a plastic or metal cover. You should remove these and open all of the lockshield valves completely. This requires that you turn them anticlockwise. You should also fully open the TRVs (thermostatic radiator valves).
Can I leave TRV head off?
Yes; and remove the TRV head.
